Captain Chris Newsome was born and raised on the waters of Mathews.

He has fished the local area from the time he was old enough to hold a rod. Capt. Newsome has been recognized as one of the premier light tackle and fly fishing guides in the Mid-Atlantic.

With a degree in marine biology, Chris offers a unique perspective to fishing. He operates out of a specialized 22’ boat that allows for fishing shallow backwaters while maintaining the ability to cross choppy water in comfort.

Newsome welcomes novice anglers and children with his friendly, low key attitude. Capt. Chris encourages catch and release fishing, but is happy to keep enough fish for you to take home for dinner.

Charters are for 1 to 3 people and run 5 hours. For the best fishing and beautiful views, morning charters leave at sunrise and evening charters return at sunset.
